Je suis allé faire un tour à la Cave Auchan en banlieue Parisienne, voici ce qu'il reste en stock chez les 2 embouteilleurs suivants:

Apparemment (source malt maniacs) c'est un single grain. Les prix des Cadenhead ont l'air assez pifométriques...

auquel cas, cela semble être une décision nationnale; ici à toulouse, même combat , ils ne vont faire que du très classique...

J'ai directement envoyé un email à Adelphi et j'ai une réponse concernant ce Single Grain . En fait si j'avais regardé la carte d'Ecosse des whiskies de la MW, j'aurais vu que c'etait une distillerie de grain. En tous cas une réponse rapide de la part d'Alex Bruce (Sales & Marketing Director d'Adelphi):

Thank you for your enquiry about our previous North British bottling.

The North British Distillery was built in the late 1890's in Edinburgh by a group of distillers and bottlers that needed a consistent and efficient local grain distillery.

It continues to this day distilling grain for many of the blended Scotch whiskies in production. It does not, however, produce its own "single grain". This makes the 1990 Adelphi bottling all the more rare and unique.

I have attached a tasting note from our archives for you to read, but please let me know if you require any more information.

There are only seven grain distilleries in Scotland, and the products of only three of them are bottled as singles. Not North British, the Edinburgh distillery, founded in 1885. This example of the make has a slightly pink flush to its pale gold colour, as if it might have been finished in a wine barrel. The nose is surprisingly mild for its strength and somewhat closed, with a hint of fresh peaches and a trace of liquorice. Water brings up butterscotch and an aroma reminiscent of outboard motors and fishing for mackerel from an old varnished boat. The flavour starts quite sweet and toffee-like, with a pleasant acidity and a medium length. Light-weight (as grain whisky should be) but interesting. Boiled sweeties in the development.

je trouve sympa de répondre si rapidement à un client lambda et ca donne envie de tester des versions d'Adelphi et ce Single grain à 67,5% qui doit rendre aveugle à cette force. En tous cas après 12ans en fût, les anges ne se sont pas attardés dessus!

C'est mauvais signe... ou alors ils n'aiment pas le whisky de grain.

j'ai posé la question à Alex Bruce d'Adelphi hier, réponse ce matin:

due to the patent still method of distilling grain, the new spirit that is drawn off for maturation tends to be much higher in alcohol than malt - usually 70%+. In this case, the cask used for maturation has also been particularly tight and the spirit has therefore retained most of its strength.

Il faut le réduire avec un single à 40%...

Je crains qu'il soit assez violent, un peu comme l'odeur d'alcool dans les blends.

Attention tu parles du Blend Malt ou du Blend je sais plus?
